Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS THE BOOKING PROCESS?

Once you have made an initial enquiry, I will send over all the relevant information and package options etc and answer any questions you may have at that stage. If you then decide you would like to book me, I will ask you to fill in a booking form with a few more details and pay a non-refundable £100 deposit. Once this has been paid, I will send over the contract for you to sign, and the invoice for the outstanding balance (to be paid no later than a month before the date of the event). At this point, your date is secured. I will then arrange to have a zoom call with you where we can have a cup of tea or glass of wine and discuss your music options.

HOW DOES IT WORK ON THE DAY?

I will aim to arrive at least an hour before the designated start time to introduce myself to any staff or clients, set up my equipment and do a sound check. After I have finished playing/singing for whichever parts of the day you have booked, I will need around 30-60 minutes to pack away all of my equipment. I will generally bring someone with me to help with this.

WHAT WILL I NEED TO PROVIDE ON THE DAY?

If you have booked me with cello, I will need a chair please. If the any of the parts of your day you have booked me for are outside, of course fingers crossed it will be a beautiful sunny day, however we all know what the wonderful UK weather can be like-it would be great to have an undercover option for me, as it is imperative that my cello and equipment do not get wet. I will also need a power supply, nearby to wherever I am singing.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Once you have paid your £100 deposit and secured your date, that is non-refundable. I do understand that unfortunately, sometimes things happen beyond our control-if this happens and you need to cancel, we will work together to decide what is the best option for us, depending how close to the date of the event this is. Further details can be found in my T&Cs sent out with the contract. If, for some unlikely reason I need to cancel, I will send over a list of recommended replacements and of course your deposit will be fully refunded.

I DON’T LIVE NEAR YOU-CAN YOU STILL PLAY AT MY EVENT?

Absolutely! I love to explore and discover beautiful new venues further afield. The first hour of travel from my home base (BN43 postcode) is included in the cost, and anything outside of that will be charged at 50p per mile. If I need to stay over in a hotel the night before your event to ensure I get there on time, I may ask for a contribution towards the cost. If your event is abroad-lucky you! Please contact me for individual travel quotes.

CAN YOU LEARN NEW MUSIC FOR OUR EVENT?

Of course! Everyone has songs that are uniquely special to them and it is so important to me that I am able to include them in your special day. Please see my “weddings” page for details on how many new songs I am able to learn for each option. Depending on how near to the event you book me, I may be able to learn more than stated; this will be a charge of £20 per song if I am just singing (no cello) or £50 per song with the cello. This is to cover the cost of any new tracks I need to buy, as well as learning and arranging (for the cello) time.

CAN YOU HELP US CHOOSE MUSIC FOR OUR DAY?

Yes! During our pre-event zoom call, once we've had a chat and got to know each other a bit, I will be more than happy to give you some song suggestions, and chat to you about your choices and what I think will work well.

DO YOU TAKE LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS?

If I am available for your date, absolutely! Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have a last minute booking request and I will see what I can do. If it is a month or less before the big day, I will only be able to learn news songs for key moments (aisle song, first dance) and the rest will need to be chosen from my existing repertoire.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me at betty@bettyvioletmusic.com or you can always drop me a DM on instagram.
